IMASC article by Chris O'Connor, Fanny Hiebel, Wei Chen, Efthimios Kaxiras, Robert Madix and Cynthia Friend has been chosen to be part of a
featured collection at the Royal Society of Chemistry. RSC editor Prof. Toshiharu Teranishi picked this article as one of fourteen outstanding articles from the last several years that he would like to share. The article, a collaborative effort between experiment and theory, demonstrates that van der Waals forces must be combined with adsorbate-adsorbate interactions in order to understand the binding of key intermediates, which form complex condensed phases. This paper is also a great illustartion of why EFRC collaboration is needed to understand these complex systems.
