Nare studied Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley where she used femtosecond laser spectroscopy and high harmonic generation to study the photoelectron spectra of metalloporphyrins. She is now a graduate student in the Friend lab learning nanoparticle synthesis and imaging using electron microscopy.
